The topic of the International Symposium in 1989 was Image in a Book - Image in an Animated Movie. It was the first theme in the cycle of Illustrated Book for Children in the Context of Different Art Styles for Children. The conjunction of illustration with animation was logical, because authors today are often both illustrators and producers of animated movies. Hence, books are based on films and vice versa. And how they enrichen each other was the main talking point at the symposium.
