Exposition of H. C. Andersen 2006 Award Holder for Literature: Margaret Mahy - New Zealand

The Hans Christian Andersen IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Award´s jury awarded Margaret Mahy (New Zealand) with the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2006 to authors.

The jury has hereby recognised one of the most original re-discoverers of language use in literature. Her style is full of poetic imagination, allure, and supernatural elements. Her work creates a secret, but strongly metaphorical arena for expression and description of experiences from childhood and adolescence. Equally important are her rhymes and poems for children. Mrs. Mahy´s works are known by children and youth all over the world.
