International Symposium BIB 2005

Psychological and Social Aspects of Illustrations in Literature

The goal of the international symposium was to offer international guests space for comparing an illustrator´s statement from a psychological and social point of view and point out relationships between literary work and illustration in terms of different social and cultural environment of a given country. At the symposium, visitors compared and transformed individual stories by Hans Christian Andersen, scrutinised their connections (in terms of illustrations) to ideals of the era and society in which they were created, and finally compared the artistic and expressive means of several illustrators in a specific literary work from different countries.
